Center Moms on the Front Lines

During this global health pandemic, the economic implications for the Ecuadorian people – especially our 323 families – are drastic. So, for these Center mothers to be able to participate in learning various skills and also have job security is a true blessing.

While three of our Center moms have sewing experience, two are learning on the job. Veronica, Jovana, Miriam, Anita, and Margarita are using 3 different sewing machines, and taking part in learning the various steps to the production process (fabric choices, cutting forms, adjustments, etc.). Thus far, they have created masks and bio-secure suits for our team here at the Center, as well as customized masks for local and international organizations, foundations, and parishes.

Get to know our team:

  • Anita Ortega: 5 years at Center / 3 children

  • Jovana Benavides Cando: 5 years at Center / 3 children

  • Margarita Perez Abril: 9 years at Center / 2 children

  • Miriam Jaiva: 10 years at Center / 3 children

  • Veronica Tibán Narváez: 7 years at Center / 5 children at the Center, one being her niece whom she adopted

Thank you, Anita, Jovana, Margarita, Miriam, and Veronica, for your dedication throughout this turbulent time during COVID-19. We look forward to seeing your skills flourish!
